The Women's Metropolitan Arts Council (WoMAC) was founded in 2005 to serve a diverse group of professional women who share a passion for the arts. WoMAC is governed by a board of directors and officers. Our membership represents women from a broad range of industries, including finance, law, health care, and real estate. The group focuses on:
Art and Education Monthly programming topics are related to art and provided in the form of special presentations, tours of exhibitions, and activities. Past topics have included Museum Director, Jim Ballinger, speaking on ‘What is Art?’ and curator-lead tours of the Fashion, Photography, Contemporary, Asian and European collections. Programs also include time for networking, food and drinks.
Networking In addition to our monthly meeting we hold social events to foster friendship and networking between our members. These activities have included happy hours, bowling, post meeting dinners, charity walks and our annual holiday party.
Fundraising The Women’s Metropolitan Arts Council (WoMAC) hosts the annual fundraiser, “It’s in the Bag!” the ultimate girls’ night out featuring signature cocktails, hors d’oeuvres, live entertainment and an amazing silent auction offering everything from designer handbags to utilitarian bags full of practical gifts and accessories. All members are expected to participate and/or contribute to make this dynamic annual event a success.
Other Fundraising Events are all designed to support the wonderful work of Phoenix Art Museum. In 2006, WoMAC was a recipient of the Spirit of Philanthropy Award, which recognizes special donors and volunteers for their significant philanthropic contributions in Arizona.
